Dorchester Golf Club is mostly occupied by retired residents that enjoy golfing in their spare time. The Dorchester Golf Club is not the best park or recreation place in the area, but nearby in Fairfield Glade, many people enjoy Robinhood Park. It is a beautiful area recommended for fishing and picnics and famous pictures have been taken of the sunset on the water. It is a perfect area for outdoor venues like weddings, family reunions, and get-togethers. As it is located on the gorgeous Lake Catherine, you will find two covered pavilions, a fishing pier, grills, and plenty of space for your outside organized activities. After raising money to improve the park’s facilities, they hoped to build a new playground area and many new trails were made to bring in more people as great hiking or walking areas. Cumberland Mountain State Park is another beautiful park that has many theings to offer. This 1,548-acre wooded park on the Cumberland Plateau at 2,000 feet. They offer hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, gift shops, and a buffet. Cabins are available to visitors and kayaks can be rented to enjoy the day on the water, and an Olympics sized swimming pool is offered for people staying. This park is America’s largest forested plateau and several of the hiking loops are along the lake and creeks, which is great to cool off while visiting the nature sites. The architecture is beautiful and the local Crab Orchard Stone used to build the park structures is very unique. At the park, they have a museum with tours of The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC); which was a public work relief program that employed young men to perform unskilled work in rural areas that were under United States Army supervision.
